It's about time I had an update on here.
Songwriting is progressing slowly for the new album. Early sketches of "Time Out of Time" and "The Devil's Child" have been recorded and tried out live, "Betrayed" has turned out to be a favourite of mine.
I have had a second look at the first idea I had for the private Melanie birthday CD, which was a song "The Fan's Song". It is about obsessive fandom, and was a little too dark for a birthday present, so I recorded the much more upbeat "Ageless Child" instead. I will put that on the new CD too- it might not be so upbeat by then though!
Many years ago I had an idea for a song about about a wonderfully eccentric friend. I thought of him in the autumn when I saw a flight of wild geese heading across the sky, and there was a white farm goose in the skein. I have ideas for "White Goose" dating back over ten years, but it will be recorded soon.
There are songs about Ted, an old mandolin player, sadly now dead. I had the honour to play with when I was in Cheshire.
It's a major life event when you have been in a band of which you are the only member still alive!
